City of Cleveland, OH
Cleveland Thrive
Department of Justice
January 2025 - January 2026
Our Mission: When the City of Cleveland secured a Department of Justice (DOJ) grant for the Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention (CVI) initiative, Wayne Henry Design was commissioned to transform high-level policy into a resonant community brand: Cleveland Thrive.
Strategy:
Using a public health-centered strategy, we bridged the gap between municipal government and local neighborhoods by delivering a "Cleveland-authentic" visual identity logo. A digital-themed persona that propelled an ecosystem with social media components that featured residents. We developed high-impact community collateral that encouraged the residents to engage and help transform digital sentiments into proactive neighborhood solutions and utility. Which all lead to a culminating 100-page "Report for the Record,"

Greater Cleveland Association of
Black Journalists (GCLEABJ)
NABJ Convention 2026
January 2025 - January 2026
As the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) commemorates its historic 50th Anniversary in Cleveland, the Greater Cleveland Association of Black Journalists (GCLEABJ) faced a critical branding deficit. Despite its role as the host chapter for this milestone event, the organization lacked a cohesive brand identity and market integrity, both locally and on the national stage. The primary problem was the absence of a defined digital footprint and social media authority. To effectively welcome thousands of media professionals and secure a permanent, influential position within the Cleveland market, GCLEABJ had to transition from a quiet local affiliate to a prominent, visually unified leader. Without a strategic brand transformation, the chapter risks remaining invisible during its most significant moment of national exposure.
Strategy:
Transform GCLEABJ from a local host into a national authority for the NABJ 50th convention. We built a visual identity and real-time social strategy to engage 3,900+ media professionals. Utilizing high-conversion marketing automation and social media campaigns that drove ticket sales for premier events the first ever in cleveland a Black Journalists Hall of Fame. A Golf Outing "Drive Cleveland" in collaboration with 100 Blackmen of Greter Cleveland. A Pre-Reception Party for Journalists prior to the convention and a "Welcome to Cleveland Party at the world famous Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The results included fully sponsored events and sold-out presence that secured GCLEABJ's position as a Cleveland media leader.
